Parenting Pathways

For parents and caregivers who want to learn more about parenting, Sunbeam offers a 12-week Nurturing Skills for Families class through the Parenting Pathways program. This program helps parents and caregivers by giving them important tools, skills, and information. In the Parenting Pathways program, families learn in a classroom, talk and do activities with other parents, and complete assignments as part of their learning.

Sunbeam supports parents and caregivers through a hope-centered and trauma informed approach. We offer a safe, nurturing, and supportive learning environment for parents and caregivers.

At Sunbeam, we believe in the power of Hope. In the book, Hope Rising How the Science of Hope Can Change Your Life, Chan Hellman, PhD, and Casey Gwinn, J.D. state that, “Hope is the belief that your future can be brighter and better than your past and that you actually have a role to play in making it better.” At Sunbeam, we walk alongside those who hold hope that their futures can be better than today, and we offer pathways for those seeking to make their own positive changes.

In this class, parents and caregivers have an opportunity to learn and grow with other parents in the class. As a parent or caregiver, this class can help you:

  • Learn new parenting techniques: Gain valuable skills to better understand and support your child’s development.
  • Build confidence: Feel more assured in your parenting decisions and have more information to keep up with the developmental changes your child experiences as they grow.
  • Stay updated: Keep up with the latest research and best practices in parenting.
  • Connect with others: Meet other parents and caregivers, creating a supportive community.

All Nurturing Skills for Families classes are held at Sunbeam Family Services locations. Parents and caregivers are provided with 2 hours of face-to-face classroom learning per week.
