CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER
Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Don't let financial concerns prevent you from seeking the childcare help you need. The Sunbeam Child Development Center accepts DHS childcare subsidy as well as offers a sliding-scale fee based on family size and income.

The Sunbeam Child Development Center was established in 1968 and provides specialized care for children, ages 0-6, with focus on developmental delays and behavioral/emotional issues. Learning at the Child Development Center is hands on, at each child's pace and takes a developmental approach to learning, helping children of all levels of learning ability grow socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually.

Hands On Learning - Children learn through experiences and curriculum that combine social, emotional and language development while building and enhancing sensory, fin and gross motor skills.

Learning At Your Own Pace - Center staff meet children where they are developmentally and work with each child individually to accomplish goals so they can enter school healthy and ready to learn. When a child is enrolled in the Center, a developmental screening is performed and an individual care plan is created. Each child is re-evaluated every three months and the care plan is reviewed to monitor progress and identify new goals.

Successful Learning - Developmental screenings show that children improve motor and language skills by a minimum of 20% within six months of being enrolled at the Center. Children also learn self-confidence, tolerance, how to identify and manage feelings and to appropriately interact with others.

Sunbeam's childcare staff is specially trained in child development, classroom management and behavior and guidance techniques, and our structured, yet flexible daily routine allows children to progress at their own speed.

The Sunbeam Child Development Center is one of the only early childhood care and education programs in Oklahoma City that provides care and development for children with behavioral/social/emotional issues.

At Sunbeam's Child Development Center, there are three important elements to your child's success: you, your child, and our highly trained staff. We offer regular parent/caregiver group meetings and family activities and we encourage parents to take an active role in Center life and the care of your child.

Families can access individual and small group play therapy onsite as need. Parent and caregiver groups offer opportunities to identify realistic expectations for you child, learn how to manage behavior problems, and help your child improve their skills. Groups also give you opportunities to support and learn from other parents and caregivers.

At Sunbeam's Child Development Center, children of all levels grow socially, emotionally and physically in a structured but flexible daily environment where they learn new skills and acceptance from one another.

The Sunbeam Child Development Center holds the
prestigious 3-STAR rating from DHS and is nationally accredited.

EARLY HEAD START
Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Sunbeam Early Head Start is a one-of-a-kind program that helps children, ages 0-3, and pregnant mothers from low-income families through educational, medical, dental, mental health, special needs and social services.

Sunbeam Family Services' Early Head Start program helps both parents and children get a "head start" in life by helping each child develop at his or her own pace.

Early Head Start Services include:

Developmental Screening - Our screenings gauge where your child is in the developmental process. We then create lessons plans that focus on developing your child's mind, movement, coordination and special skills.

Special Needs - We offer services to families with children who may be experiencing emotional and behavioral problems and/or developmental delays and work with our community partners to assist in helping children with disabilities.

Nutritionist - Our on-staff nutritionist ensures your child is getting the proper nutrition needed to be strong and active. We also offer training on how to make healthy meals and snacks, because good nutrition is critical for physical and mental development.

Medical Screening - We conduct visual, dental and medical screenings to check your child's basic overall health. By catching problems at an early age, there is a greater chance of preventing complications later on in childhood.

Prenatal & Postpartum Care - From the early months of pregnancy to the months following birth, we help you understand nutritional requirements and prepare your home for your newborn.

Goal Assistance - Because your needs are just as important as your child's needs, we help you achieve your goals by providing assistance in completing your GED, enrolling in school, preparing to purchase a home and meeting childcare needs.

Parent Training - We also help you build stronger, healthier families by offering training, resources and answers to reduce child-rearing stress.

No other program is as comprehensive as Early Head Start in
serving parents and children, from health to education to development.

Educare

Sunbeam is the managing partner of the Oklahoma City Educare program which, through a consortium of partners, creates, provides and promotes the highest quality outcome-based learning environments for Oklahoma County families and their children (prenatal to five years) who are at-risk for school failure. The facility, scheduled to open in April, 2009, will offer year-round comprehensive, center-based, developmental childcare, education and related services.

Oklahoma City's Educare facility will serve 200 low-income, at- risk children. The school will include eight infant and toddler classrooms for 64 children and eight preschool classrooms for 136 children. Priority will be given to at-risk children. From birth to age 3, the school will have a ratio of one teacher for four children. From age 3 to 5 the radio will be one teacher for every eight students.

Locating the Educare center adjacent to an elementary school will allow a family to have a child on the same campus from birth through the sixth grade, or 12 years. The Educare concept is committed to helping young children grow up safe, healthy and eager to learn. Long-term results will be measured.
