School-Based Counseling Services

Sunbeam Family Services provides small group counseling to elementary and middle school age children enrolled in many schools in the Oklahoma City Public School District.

Sunbeam School-based Counselors primarily work with children in small groups to address topics such as behavior, self-control, positive choices, bullying, assertiveness skills, self care, and healthy boundaries. At the same time, the Counselors strive to build self esteem in each child to improve their ability to learn and participate in positive relationships.

Students, who participate in Sunbeam's School-Based Counseling, show improvement in self-control, peer relations, following directions, improvement in the students’ ability to perform academically at grade level, and show a decrease in bullying behavior. Sunbeam’s presence in the Oklahoma City Public Schools is making a positive difference in students’ ability to achieve academic and social success.
